I am sorry my friend. I don't have high regard for Kaif's performance other than as a fielder. We almost lost first ODI in WI. When India had to score some 23 runs of 23 balls, he conceded a maiden. He continuously failed during WI and SF series. Many times he played dead slowly and caused people to lose their nerves. He is dead slow... too slow that we may lose matches. In second ODI, look at how many balls he wasted at the end.
On the other hand, Sourav and Yuvraj have been match winners for us. They can 'single-handedly' win the matches. Do you think Kaif could have played the role of Yuvraj like the III ODI against Sri Lanka or during the Natwest series in England during 2002 season? Yuvraj was continuously the man of series two times with best knocks possible last year. Let us not be completebly blind with favoritism. Winning Ranji trophies or local matches should only gain a place in the team. If they don't keep their place in the team, then it's their problem. He was given more than enough chances for his calibre and performance and that's more than a fair treatment. There is no one in current team that got tickets free of cost and there are no politics.
If I am one of the selectors, I wouldn't be taking Kaif other than as 12th man for fielding. I would rather take Laxman for batting and keep him in slips.

Kaif has been enough enough opportunities and very fair chance. However, he failed to perform and that is the reason
why he has not been selected and the selectors have opted
for the best available players at present. That does not mean
that it is the end of carreer of Kaif. If he performs well in domestic cricket as has been the case with Ganguly he can
defenitely come back into Indian Team..

First of all, thy can select only 15 members for the world cup. So they try to take the best of their choice from the short listed players. There they have to include some prominent players like Sachin,Sehwag,Kumble etc irrespective of their form. So some good players didn't get the Chance to prove themselves in the world cup. Past glory don't work for them. But remember, he is not alone in the list. There are Powar,Laxman etc. also. Hope they will do their best in the future.

He is a great fielder, but not in a form good enough to
make it to the final 11
He is supposed to be a specialist batsman, like Gibbs,Atapattu,
Hayden etc
And Kaif's batting hasn't been good enough for him to be included
as a batsman (who can't bowl)
Selecting him in the 15 member squad, would have been a good idea,in case other batsmen are in poor form,he could be played

sorry my dear may be u r a fan of kaif, first of all u shoud know that kaif is not an allrounder , he plays slowly means only single's and two's clearly he don't know how to hit sixes and fours powerfully and he is not a sweet timer of the ball. in odi's one should play powerfully like macmillan and maccullum in new zealand ,one should be an allrounder completly

Ganguly was also playing well when he was sacked.
But he came back.
(through personal effort........ and also by offering Yajna sacrifice at Bhainsa Ghat near Lucknow through his family priest, thereby appeasing the minor deities and super-natural powers.... )
Kaif can do the same thing.
By hook or by crook.
All is fair in Love n War !!! (this applies to cricket also)

Well he is a good player, but there are people in the Indian team who are performing their duties better than kaif in their own departments..
HE IS A TALENTED MAN HE HAS TO WAIT .......
DOOR IS NOT CLOSED PERMANENTLY FOR HIM........
