'Magnete' the Lodestone Boy. Third-rate freakshow act around Joplin, Missouri, late 1880s. Immigrant from Sicily, former umbrella repairman, died of complications from ingesting iron filings. 'Magnete' is to this day synonomous, in and around Joplin anyway, with all things related to magnetism and magnetics.
