In this age of junkie mums, crack babies and inescapable poverty for their offspring, is it time the UK had some form of mandatory if not forcible contraceptive implant to prevent female users becoming pregnant and passing on their addictions to their unborn children?

As much as i agree that ALL Crack, Crystal Meth and Heroin Users should be prevented from having Children, it's never MEN who carry the innocent lives of a new baby inside their bodies.. The only issue i have is with the children who are being abused before they are even born, and face a life of disadvantages either directly or indirectly associated with their Parents personal drug Addictions..
And NO, i wouldn't like that kind of control over anyone, but these fools should at least have the sense not to get pregnant while being exposed to such a dirty and unhealthy way of life.. and due to the lack of initiative, is it not time that these people were COMPELLED to change their ways?

yes i think they should be sterilised by court order because look at the damage they are doing to the unborn babies on a cellular level

generally the crack whores you are talking about only associate with men who themselves are basically crack whores, so by neutering the females you are also having the same knock on effect with the males. Although they also should be given the snip if you ask me, in my opinion anyone who has the kind of addiction, be it drugs, drink or whatever that can harm the lives of the unborn in there care, is an unfit parent and ought to have the child removed by the social services as soon as it is out of the womb for the benefit of not just the child but also society in general as, as we all know those people are the most likely to commit crimes such as burglary to fund their habit. Anyone who has a problem with my opinion needs to know that I am related to people who have drink and drug problems, I have seen the effect it has had on the offspring of such people and I would much rather the children effected had never been born than had the bad start they did have as I have been unable to assist in any way possible due to a number of factors.

I will never agree to anything that is forced on anyone though it is heartbreaking to see children born into addiction.
My idea is to pay a modest "reward", to drug addicts who would willingly get a vasectomy or a tubal ligation.
Yes, the taxpayer would have to pay for this, but in the long run, it's cheaper than supporting children who are born into this horror, and certainly a more compassionate policy, while affording a choice to the victims of drug addiction.

it depends.
if the mother is still curableand can totally be off the jun them give them a period of time that they are not allowed to have offsprings unless they really come clean through follow ups to doctors and psyche experts. it takes a long time and a lot of money but they're UK people so they got funds for that.
if they are on the brink and are non resolvable then they need to be given preventive measure in case of conception, that helps not only their future babies but the society as well. a baby of a junky less in the community

Although I see your initial point and I do see it as valid, doesn't forced contraception seem a bit like Orwell's 1984?
I mean I would love it if addicts were unable to procreate - but isn't it kind of over the top to govern/regulate a person's biological affairs?

I think that something has to be done for the sake of these poor babies. As a mother myself i cannot comprehend how someone could put theirselves before their children. My heart breaks for these poor little soles who have no chance in life and they need a voice to speak out for them. I think that they should be made to take contraception or have a hysterectomy that way they r only abusing themselves.

Would that make you feel better to have that kind of control over another person?
You propose the start of a very slippery slope, what would be next? Stopping the reproductive capabilities of all those who have tendancies towards things you vastly disagree with?
Noone should force their will upon another person who is not consenting

Both males and female addicts should be forced/encouraged to take contraception. The last thing this country needs is more children in dysfunctional families.

Definitely, babies don't ask to be born sick, because of the stupidity of their parents. They can't look after themselves, how are they going to look after an infant. Not to mention the hell that baby will go through growing up. Who wants to have sex with a crack head anyways.....Pretty romantic.

i agree because at the end of it all its the kids that pay the price being put into care and being born with server disabilitys or not even making it to the 1st month or 1st birthday
