If you are not Asian, do you find it more difficult to identify Asians apart from each other as opposed to other races? Do you think this is due to ignorance or do you think it is more than that?

It's not ignorance. It is simply because if you grow up with majority non asian people your mind isn't taught to pick the differences between them. The same applies for Asians trying to tell other races apart. It is a natural thing and nothing to do with ignorance or racism.

Perspective.

When I worked in a place that sold liquor, I had to card people, and I made a game of guessing their exact age (in my head). I was 19-22 at that job, and I was very good (within a year or two) with anyone from 18 to about 28. As people got older (we were supposed to card anyone who LOOKED under 40, which meant I carded a lot of fifty-year-olds for booze) I got less and less accurate.

We're all experts in our own neighborhood. So, yes, it's due to ignorance, but I don't think that's inherently bad, it's just that it's often a cheap pretext for prejudice.
