On a hot January day, I escape the heat much as I do on a hot July day. Dress lighter, no sweaters, don't wear a coat outside, wear sandals, have some ice water or ice cream or both, and take a cool shower.

January? You must be on the south side of the world. On a hot August day (northern hemisphere) I stay inside as much as possible. I am fortunate to have air conditioning in my home and car. Even when I do go out in my car, I start it early and let the hot air be pushed out a bit.
Its very dangerous to be outside when it is 110 degrees fahrenheit. Less than 10 minutes in the sun and you can feel the effects of dehydration.

First, I scream at my parents (they never let me have the air-con on! One day it was 43 degrees Celcius and I was only allowed a cheap fan that broke if I set it on anything but the lowest level or left it on for more than an hour!) and then I take a cold bath with ice in it, then stand in front of the fan without drying off.

I'll have loads of ice-cream and shower twice daily. Maybe even have an ice-cool drink. Well fortunately in Singapore the weather's hot, so i've become quite accustomed to it.

wear light color clothes like white, cream, beige and avoid wearing black, red, violet or dark color, wear cotton fiber material sleeveless, short, slacks, wear sun glass, bring water spray, drink water, splash cologne, apply powder, stare at green color like leaves, don't forget to take a bath before leaving your house, you can never escape the heat but there are lots of ways to lessen it.
