I think it will play out similar to the relationship between another 2 famous FBI agents: Skully and Mulder from The X Files.
Over the years the show was running, the 2 agents grew *very* gradually closer to each other emotionally, since they'd saved each other's life so many times, and in the last few seasons it grew into a mild, then a serious romantic relationship.
This is, as another answerer mentioned, very predictable, because it keeps the viewer wanting more, hence they keep watching and waiting for the next *special* encounter. Noone can predict exactly how gradual they will grow connected, but as long as both actors continue to work for the show they are destined to be close.
Like that other answerer mentioned, the plot is predictable, but not as predictable as sooooo many other shows on at the moment. Bones is similar in it's predictability as shows like CSI*, Without A Trace, Justice, Law And Order*, and Supernatural.
It's less predictable than shows like Days Of Our Lives, Psychic Detectives, Brothers and Sisters and Boston Legal. Conversely, it's more predictable than shows like 24, Heroes, Medium, Prison Break*, and a variety of game shows and reality shows.
* denotes that there are multiple shows with the same name. eg CSI LV, CSI MI and CSI NY.

well the director was quoted as saying he's going to try to prolong it as much as humanly possible w/out the viewers losing interest....im personally however hoping for ATLEAST A KISS for the season 2 finale....Booth's jealousy seems to be mounting w/ each passing moment....
they do make the cutest couple....nd i agree, David is a total hottie!! :) lol
