"A lie can travel around the world in the time truth is still trying up its shoelaces" -- Mark Twain

The one documented time Einstein ever "failed" at anything involving mathematics was when he was taking the entrance examination for an engineering school in Zurich. While it's true that he didn't receive good marks in secondary school, he also taught himself geometry by the age of 12 and showed an aptitude in mathematics. He was the classic case of the bright student doing poorly in class because he lacked diligence.

In fact, mastering tensor calculus later in his life was a stupendously difficult task for any mathematician, being that it was a new field, and he did not "suddenly develop a skill" in mathematics somewhere between the time he had "failed" at it, and the time he was working at the Patent Office. He had always been good at it, but only those things he was particularly interested in.

No, Albert Einstein never failed mathematics. He excelled in algebra, statistical analysis, and mastered integral calculus by age 12. He did poorly in non-physics, non-chemistry, non-mathematics classes such as history, geography, music, writing, language skills, and such. But mathematics he never failed at. He mastered tensor calculus when he was older because it was just coming into fruition when he was older. The guy above (charro c) is a ******* moron by the way, because "other then *charro's words, not mine, sic* his theory about relativity" he won the Nobel Prize for his research into how plants can convert light into electricity. Yes, he won the Nobel Prize, but not for the Theory of Relativity, but rather for his research into botany!

The simple answer is that he was NOT gifted in mathematics. He excelled in theoretical physics, but tended to de-emphasize math in his theories.

well very fascinating but einstein really failed not only in maths but in school and was taken out of school he was tought by himself and his parents helped him... this is a common feature in all the gr8 personalities.. like Thomas Alva Edison he too failed in school.. SO IF YOU ARE FAILING IN SCHOOL BE SURE YOU ARE GOING TO BE WORLD FAMOUS
