when does court probation time start?

If given one year in county jail and three years probation. Does the probation time start after the jail time or when the sentence is given?

Probation is time spent under supervision outside of jail. It would start upon release from jail. When the person is processed from the jail, the person would be directed to report directly to the probation department to fill out the paperwork assigning him to a probation officer.

The probation starts after the jail sentence is served, and the person reports to the probation office.
