Do people know how illiterite they sound when they say this? It's a double negative (like a duet between Gwen Stephani and Akon). Why do some people insist on using this word?

I know. I hate it too. Most people don't realize they're doing it. It used to be thought that the word didn't actually exist, but in truth it does, but it's not genarally accepted, except in extremely formal speeches. Whatever the case, I refuse to use it, because it IS a double negative, and just hearing it makes me cringe. Just like when people say "nucular" instead of "nuclear".

I do not believe they do, they use that wor d( i will not type it as I hate that word, ) to sound more intelligent although the effect is rather redundant. Regardless I believe that teachers should watch for that word and correct it before it gets out of hand a la Stephen Colbert's "Truthiness word"
