Their recent performance is terrible, if they are SO GOOD then why did they not win the ICC Champions Trophy.

Since cricket is a game of uncertainties, nothing can be predicted for sure about the outcome of a tournament well in advance. India lost the Champions Trophy because some of their key players were not at all in form and did not perform to their potential. Now most of the players are coming back to form and if they play the way they played against Sri Lanka and West Indies recently, they have better chance of winning the world cup.

India has players like Ganguly, Dravid and Sachin that occupy three slots in top 6 most-run getters in ODI. These have plenty of runs together more than any other team combining the scores of all their 11 players. Sehwag, Yuvraj and Dhoni add excellent aggression to the experience. Kumble and Harbhajan are world class spinners. Zaheer has been lethal off late and Munaf has been accurate.
On the paper, it looks as the best team. But what India lacks is 'persistence' and 'perseverance'. Once they reach a milestone (like 50 or 100), they think that their job is over. Hence you see too many records but few many wins for India.
Most of the people don't like Dravid as he always says 'team' than individual members. It's the spirit that is required. He is the one who doesn't create kingdoms and leads from the front. Under him, there is a good chance for India to succeed unless some of the boneheads in the team still think they are beyond India.

We can never determine the skills of a particular team just on the basis of a single game. I strongly belive and hope I ndia will win the world cup(just b'coz that's where I'm from) GOOD LUCK INDIA!! India will do it with all of our Indians' support. BUT who knows nothing is predictable. Thanks for coming up with this question.
