He was an Italian navigator named Amerigo Vespucci. That's really weird that you asked that question because I just read that in my book 20 minutes ago! :)

America has been founded by several peoples (besides of native Indians). If you instead mean 'who discovered America' you should specify which America.
North, Centre or South America ??
If you instead means a part of the States then it was Cristoforo Colombo (Columbus) that has discovered the coasts of actual Florida while Giovanni Caboto (John Cabot) and Amerigo Vespucci (all the 3 were Italians) have discovered the north-west coasts.
It's hard however for me to list all the explorers that have discovered a single part of America. I could answer more accurately if you post a more specific question.
