Hey all,

I live in Portland, OR, and I just got my first speeding ticket on I-5 near woodburn. I am 20 years of age, and have had license for last two years. On the ticket, I have a court date set, and I plan on going too.

Ok now the thing is that I was speeding. Going about 95mph, but I didn't see the cop's car till I got near (behind) the car, and then slowed down to 60 mph, and then he pulled me over because he "saw me speeding in his rear mirror." He gave me ticket of 150$, but when he flagged me, I was going 60. On the ticket he wrote 85mph, and next to it, there's a box that says, "laser, radar or pace" and he didn't check any of those.

Do you think I should get away with it? What should my argument be? HELP!!

I AM FREAKING OUT LIKE CRAZY!!

95 mph and driving school might not mix, get a lawyer on the phone and give the {} and see if he thinks you got a case. if the office is a brownstone with broken windows and hes sucking down bourbon, walk away lol. slow down.over a 20 mile drive, 95>75 only saves like 2-3 minutes+-. so dont try to drive the clock back. set your clock fwd by 10 minutes. problem pretty much solved.

It's your word against his. I strongly suggest you go to traffic school. You can do it online in about 3 hours for about $20. If you still want to fight, go to traffic court just as a spectator and listen to what goes on. I think you'll quickly change your mind when you hear your argument 5-10 times.... Good-Luck
P.S. He didn't not check a box by accident, He didn't radar, lasar, or pace. He will argue his experience, years of service etc. if ;you fight and lose it goes on your driving record and if you happen to get another ticket in the next 3 years be prepared for a major increase in insurance rates for 3 years....

Take your bumps kid and quit complaining. 95! Are you crazy! If I was the cop you'd have been arrested for reckless endangerment! The highways are full of honest taxpaying citizens who have families and loved ones and we pay those police to arrest you hotheads before you kill us with your insane driving. I-5 is an interstate highway open to the public. Not a NASCAR circuit where you can push your machine to the limits. Chill out and take your consequenses and be glad you didn't kill anyone. Next time, drive sensibly.

If you really want to fight it, you can go to court and tell the judge that the officer didn't show you your speed on a radar detector. Plus the paperwork is not filled out correctly. And the officer that wrote the ticket is supposed to show up to. You can get it tossed, if he doesn't show up. If you don't want to fight it, tell the judge that you will go to defensive driving and get court supervision instead. Check your local laws before you head to court, that way you will be prepared.

Hopefully the judge will give you driving school so it doesn't go on your record
