Firstly, can you legally get a job at 14? I can't remember when I could legally get a job, but I think it was 15 or so.
In any case, go around to local businesses, and as long as you're personable, anyone would want to hire you. My advice is to get a job that you won't mind doing too much, wich can get you a decent bit of money. Don't worry about focusing on a job you love, because you'll get there eventually.
I totally aplaud you're willingness to get a job so young.

In my state the labor law age is 14 too, and I want a job too, what I plan to do is apply at a couple of sit down restaurants, and some retail places at the mall, the only thing about retail places is sometimes they pay you on commission which means that they pay you based on how much money you make selling the merchandise. You can also be fired because of commission. Unfortunately for me I won't be 14 for 6 months.

ok, here's the best advice you'll ever get ---- WAIT!
You'll have to work all your life. That's about 45 to 50 years of working. Why are you in such a rush to get started? Wait a couple of years until you *have* to work and then jump in there. Take the time to be 14 and enjoy life without the added pressure of working. Concentrate on doing well in school so that when you do have to work, you'll be better qualified for better jobs. Don't be satisfied with a floor mopping job! Shoot higher! Be a kid now and worry about working later on.

Hun..Im tellin you dont work untill your 16 or 17. You are going to be working the rest of you life. Take you childhood time and enjoy you life. Go play some sports and hang out with your friends. If you realy want the money find a baby sitting job. Dont rush growing up. I regret working at a young age. I didnt get to do half the stuff I wanted to do. Now its to late...

i'm 13 and I babysit all the time. it's a fun and easy way to make money. i also tutor but I do that for free.
first you have to get working papers you can probably get them from your guidence office at school.
try getting something easy first. like maybe a small shift at a pet store stocking things or taking care of the animals if they'll let you. try getting something at your local library that's what i'm doing as soon as I turn 14. I'm also going to try to become a waitress at kim's diner down the street from my house before i go to the library.
good luck

You have to get a work permit to work at the age of 14 from your school. Most places now days you have to be either 16 or over 18. You can probably be a bagger at grocery store, push carts, work at an arcade like brunswick zone(bowling alley) places like that, be a greeter at a store, or do some kind of babysitting or yard work.
I started working at a campground at the age of 14 I had to get a work permit though to do it, so you would have to probably, well at least my state requires it.

Fill out an application. This is not rocket science. McDonalds is always hiring the mentally challenged to sweep floors and clean windows (although they drool on them more than they clean them). Give it a shot!
