The CTX laptop that I Have will not recognize CDs are inserted.

Go to Control Panel
then Double Click Systems
Then Click on Hard wares
Then Click Device Manager
Then Click CD/DVD Rom Drives
Then Properties Box will popup then Check the Status if its properl installed this message will appear "This device is working properly.
If you are having problems with this device, click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter."

or Check Device Usage Box and select "Use this Device Enable" then Close. You Done!!

Well, did you just get the computer and the cd drive does not work or was it working before and stopped working?

If you just bought it and it does not work, then apparently you need to get it replaced. But you know that there are two different types of CDs too, There is the +CD and the -CD. Your drive may only recognize and/or play one type of CD only.

See if you got a friend and put the CDs of yours in their computer and see if it works.
But it is kind of hard as you need to be more explicit or tell us more on what the problem is.

go to the control panel and it has a thumbnail there its easy from thier lol rate me best answer plz
