These are just approximate: 10dB, a paper clip dropped on a hard surface. 30dB, talking softly. 60-70dB, a group of people talking over one another in a crowded room. 90dB, a rock band or concert (loud). 140dB, standing next to a jet engine. This level will cause great pain and rupture the eardrum if exposed for any lenth of time. The human is most sensative to mid-range tones in the range of about 300Hz to 3000Hz and these tones appear louder. Lower bass tones are far more tolerable at high sound pressure levels, as our ears are far less sensative to them. Hope this helps out. Might find more searching under acoustics & audiology.
