Cha cha cha came from Cuba. It became popular in the early 50's. It used to be called Triple Mambo, and an off-shoot of the Mambo. In 1951, the Cuban composer and violinist Enrique Jorrin introduced the dance on the dance floors while playing Orchestra America. But prior to this, the music was danced slow Mambo style.
