A brilliant war drama, first rate performances and cinematography all around. Eerie score and memorable moments, like when Washington's character is being flogged, the regiment sitting around singing, Broderick's character trashes the supply sergeant's office over the supplies being with-held from the regiment, and of course the final charge.
One of my all time favourites.

I think it's a very enjoyable movie. Uplifting in a way, yet also very melancholy at the end. A well put-together piece of cinema with some excellent performances by Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman.

It's a great film. One of Matthew Brodericks best as well as Morgan Freeman and Denzel's. To know that these former slaves were willing to fight for the freedom of their people while in such dire straits is inspiring. The human spirit is a powerful thing.

It was a thorough movie about the Civil War. I saw it and I remember I enjoyed it, but not enough to watch it again. This one didn't stand out that much maybe because the scripting and/or actors weren't that remarkable. To me, anyway. Incredible action scenery.

Liked it very much. Denzell deserved his Oscar. Just finished watching it (again) on AMC. They had the enhanced version where they scroll on the bottom of the screen comments,inside information, and historical facts about the movie. I recommend it highly.

I watched in highscool. It was really good, I cried. And when I see it on TV I watch it and I cry again. The ending was sad.
