Before the NFL season espn put the Chargers 17th in the power rankings. For the last 3 seasons the Padres have been put in the middle of the pack for predictions of NL west (they've won 2 years in a row).

Do you think there is a reason San Diego sports are often underratted?

This was last year that the Chargers were ranked 17th, when they had all the coaches

Football Wise this year that sounds right becuase the chargers lost all their coaches making them to fall to at least number 10 in the NFL. The padres is right on, the padres show that they did't deserve to be in World Series and proves that the dodgers should of took their spot as #1 in the NL West.

I have noticed that too... I think it might be because it is too isolated from the main sport's cities and most of the US. San Diego is not considered as a big city, comparing to LA, which is not too far from here. Another thing... maybe it is because they don't consider these teams (Chargers and Padres) as two classic teams. Might there be something related to its proximity to Mexico?
