I think so.

Well, first, for the practical reason that it's been for frickin' ever since I've seen anybody turned away from a movie for being too young, even R rated ones.

But looking at the MPAA guidelines, the G, PG and PG-13 ratings seem intended to give parents an idea of the content. Hence, the idea of Parental Guidance.

R is another thing - it stands for Restricted, and it means that those under 17 are meant to be kept out without a guardian.

But there are a reason those guidelines are there - I know there are movies I'm glad I didn't see as a kid and ones I wouldn't let my kids see before a certain age. (And it's not nudity that gave me nightmares - it's unimaginable violence and blood, by the way...)

I should probably conclude with a shrug and comment on kids these days.

But as to the 12 year old getting in...if the theatre actually notices the fine distinction between the ages and cares, and chooses to decline your desire to spend money there, then I'd be surprised. Plus, you could argue that such a movie isn't forbidden or restricted to those under 13, it's just a guideline.

I don't think so , unless the 14 yr old looks like an adult
or they sneek in ,in between movies like my friends and I did at that age!
