Ask them "is there anything i can do to serve you better?" right after they stiff you. 1) they will get the idea 2) they will be forced to admit that they just received good service and still stiffed.
People don't realize that pizza delivery people have memories like elephants when it comes to stiffs, and that drivers all talk to eachother about them. If people knew this they would never stiff, or they would pick the food up for themselves.
Another thing people don't realize is that stiffers actually end up paying more money for worse service. On the phone drivers will offer the best specials available to the tippers, include coupons, and juggle any available discounts to make the tipper happy. Stiffs will only be offered run of the mill specials on the phone, and coupons will be ripped off boxtops delivered to stiffs, and removed from BOGO mailers... its not just vindictive, but if stiffs stop ordering the team has more resources available to cater to the tippers.
Drivers can leave a store with 5+ orders in their vehicle. Guess who gets theirs last? first? The entire team stands to make more money by keeping the tippers happy first. If you don't tip, the system actually works against you.
If a stiff orders, the driver misses his 'turn' to deliver to a tipper.
(not only is the stiff a waste of time, they actually cost the driver money!)
Drivers can make more money by NOT servicing the stiffs!
PS: Food tampering? Its not a threat, but with MILLIONS of deliveries per day, the odds say its happening.

You know my father was a waiter...I believe in tipping but for Pizza delivery are you not being paid to deliver the Pizza and what is it exactly that you are doing to go out of your way to get tipped for? Why don't you ask the company you work for to create a price with tip included to get your self what you feel you deserve right from the bill?

I work for tips too. It's comes with the job. Some people are generous and some aren't. I tip well every time, and guess what? I get my stuff more quickly the next time. (At restaurants and stuff). But that's not why I do it.

Sapphire,
That is a hard one. You can't do anything to their food beforehand, because you don't know if they will tip you.
Personally, for the restaurants I order from on a regular basis for delivery, I tip them extremely well.
If they are regulars who don't tip you (and that is DISGUSTING), take longer with your delivery. When they comment, let them know that your tipping customers get first priority.

Whenever i give the pizza guy a twenty (my order was twelve dollars), he never gives me change. I guess you could just do that next time. Or you can copy their addresses down and mess with their pizzas next time.
