I just had a baby (4 months ago), and gained a lot of weight. I still need to make it to the point where I begin to lose weight but need to buy a whole new wardrobe to fit my new full figured size. I am only 22, and want to dress "trendy", but didn't know where I could go.. (I'm a size 20 pants) ... =(
hehe, but with good cause, and working on the weight. What are some good places that I could buy a new wardrobe that isn't too pricey, I don't want to spend a fortune to update my wardrobe just for a few months (when I start to lose the weight)...
Thanks in advance!!!

I want a good place that carries "trendy" stuff.. I am finding it difficult to go into department stores; when they send me to the "plus sizes", they are all old woman clothes.. sadface at that..

Congratulations on your new little addition!
Lane Bryant! That would be my first suggestion. Jeans range from 39.50 all the way up to about $100 for the Seven7 brand that they carry. The smallest size they offer is 14, and the biggest in store is 28. You can shop online up to a size 32 and down to a size 12, I believe. They also carry DDD in store, and go even bigger online. You can place your special order at the store and receive free shipping. But the best part about this place is--all the sales and promotions that go on. Their sales are WILD! All you need is an address for them to send you their coupons and specials and you'll be set to shop for more and pay a lot less.
The target age range is about 25-45, and they really have a lot of variety. The quality of the clothing is unbeatable in my opinion. When it comes to plus-size clothing, we ladies have to be really careful to get our money's worth. For whatever reason, we have to pay more to be as beautiful as any other girl wearing a smaller size, so it's important to consider what will last you.
Check out the online catalog at lanebryant.com; there is also a special juniors line called LBmix that they don't offer in stores at the moment.
Other great places to check out are Torrid (torrid.com--you can look for a store near you at the website, and they also have hot sales really, really often!), Cato, FashionBug, and if you do a Google search, you can find a lot of kitschy websites that sell awesome-looking plus-size clothing.
But trust me--Lane Bryant's value and quality just can't be matched!

I live in Southern California and the Macy's around here all have excellent, stylish plus sized clothing. Yes, they have the old fuddy-duddy lookin' stuff, too :-) I'm a big fan of I.N.C. and Alfani, both from Macy's.
Mervyn's has a "juniors-plus" section which has very trendy clothes (clearly aimed at teens, but....?) and I've found some great jeans there.
Online check out www.alight.com. This is the BEST online plus size clothing website I've ever found. They have a huge selection and lots of styles and brands.
There's always Lane Bryant. These days it's rare, but every once in a while I find a fabulous shirt or jacket there.
Good luck! :-)

Lane Bryant. I am a 22 after having a baby too, and I have never found trendy, well fitting clothes anywhere but Lane Bryant. If you sign up for the card you will get an (almost) weekly email letting you know the sales. They always have sales where you spend anywhere to 100-250 dollars and get huge percentages off. I've come home with 300 dollars worth of cloths but only spent 75 dollars. As long as you pay attention to the sales, and only buy when they are having a sale or clearance you can build a wordrobe fast of great looking and comfortable clothes.

Try to find a store called called Torrid. If you know what Hot Topic is, it's the same company. They have lots of plus-size things that still look trendy or sexy. Also, most of the major discount chains like Ross and Loehmann's will carry plus-sizes.
Congratulations on the new baby!

Although not plus size myself, I have a couple full-figured friends that have good luck at a store called Torrid.
If there isn't one located where you live, check on line. The store carries everything from Evening gowns to club-wear, and everything in between. With a degree in fashion marketing, I'll tell you that you cant go wrong with the store. =]

I don't know where you live exactly, but in Torrance (Del Amo Mall) there's a store right next to Sears (on the right hand side). Can't recall the name at the moment. But I'll find out from my daughter and try to get back to you. There's also a store called 'Mode' in Westfield Shopping Towne (it used to be called Fox Hills Mall) in Culver City. Have you tried online shops like Kiyonna or Igigi? Also, my daughter has an e-shop called Jahqoi. She sells online, but we live in Los Angeles.
Good luck to you... and congratulations on the birth of your baby!
