I have been teaching myself since Christmas, and have accomplished more than I expected. The best thing that I found was a book with a CD purchased from amazon.com. This book and CD set have helped more than any website that I found. The book is entitled First Lessons Violin by Mel Bay Publications. The publisher also has other great book and CD combos. I'd highly recommend getting Suzuki book one and the cd recording to that book. You can get it at www.sharmusic.com. If you can, try to find a teacher that teches the Suzuki method. It's a GREAT method for beginners.
