Is it more about a "rite of passage" or the style of dress or just social recognition? How accurate do you think their "values" are compared to most 16 year olds? What does having a sweet 16 party mean to you?

Actually... NO. I believe the age with the most pressure is 18. This is the age where you will be forced to grow up and be mature or stay stuck in the childish mode. Obviously there are pressures at 16 but hey... I am 45 and if you think you got problems just wait Honeychild!

You know, a lot of people say that "kids have it easy" and that everything just falls into their laps which is not true. Every generation faces it's problems.

The 19teens generation went of to fight in World War one thinking that it was a romantic notion. A lot of them came back shell shocked and disoriented. The cold war era kids lived in constant fear that the superpowers would one day push the big red button and unleash nuclear armageddon.

The current generation does not have to worry about wars as military service is voluntary. Their problems are different - trying to wear the right clothes, trying to look physically perfect and avoiding taking drugs or drinking too much. The fashion craze has them trying to keep up with current clothes and spending all of their money. To have a perfect physique, girls have resorted to drastic measures and have serious problems like bulimia or anorexia nervosa. Every teen also faces the choice of whether to take drugs or not.

The current generation doesn't have it as easy as everyone thinks but they will find a way to fix their problems.

Not precisely 16, I think any age as you grow older you have to deal with new things. I'm 16, I don't feel any different as when I was 15. You just learn and grow. :) Peace.
