Have a 97 GTI VR6 and getting bad MPG, about 17 cty. and 20 Higwy. and i Don't Speed! Any Suggestions?

I don't speed, I drive defensivley. Any one know why it is so bad. i Hear it should be in the mid 20's

You just need to make sure you have a fresh tuneup. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and always make sure you have a clean air filter. Proper tire pressure plays a part, as well as a clean fuel filter. Thats where I would start.

at least. change fuel and air filters, check tire inflation, if that doesnt do it get it checked out on the machine.
