Hey there! I traveled with my baby when she was 6 weeks old. From New Orleans to South Carolina and it's not that short of a trip! There are no laws on breastfeeding on a plane. Mostly all states allow breastfeeding in public. As long as you are over US soil you have no problem. I did breastfeed on the plane coming back and it was fine. Do not go in the bathroom to nurse... Sit in the chair and throw a blanket over your shoulder or do how you feed comfortable. I'm in the military and I do lots of training and I pump while I'm at work. I always tell people this one thing when they tell me to pump in the bathroom. "Do you eat your lunch in the bathroom? Then why would I make my babies lunch in there". Yes, I catch people off guard, but they find a better place. Good luck hope this helps. Nurse on!!!!

Try and get a window seat and have your husband sit next to you. Planes are actually pretty private. It is a Little bit cramped but you can still breastfeed in your seat on the plane. Also try and time your baby's feedings so you can feed her when you are ascending and descending (if possible). It seems a lot more intimidating than it really is. You will be able to do it.

You can bring everything you need on the plane with you, there are few regulations regarding baby stuff. Pack ALL of your liquids/gels in a seperate plastic bag (lotion, diaper rash cream,...) it can be in the diaper bag but have it handy so you can pull it out if they ask you to.

Bring along a couple books and a couple favorite toys. See if you can get a bulk-head seat so there's room to sit her down on the floor if you want. The laws protect YOU, you can feed your baby where ever you want! Like the first poster said, try to get a window seat for extra privacy, and/or cover up with a blanket if you're worried about drawing any attention. Be sure to have her eat or suck on something to relieve the pressure in her ears.

You don't need to hide in a bathroom to nurse your baby.
If you wrap the baby in a blanket thrown over your shoulder, or wear a poncho, pulling-up your shirt from the waist - 8 or 9 people out of 10 would never know or notice what you are doing.

I rode the bus and nursed my baby sitting on a bus-bench and no one knew.

One flying-tip : when changing altitudes and your ears pop, sucking helps little kids to pop their ears. Try a pacifier or put some gatoraide in a small bottle for her.

Feed her where you would eat. You wouldn't eat in the bathroom. Just cover up with a blanket, no problem. My friend who breast feeds while out and about uses dressing rooms at retail stores if she needs a quiet private place. I thought that was a brilliant idea, otherwise, just use a receiving blanket to cover up. Pretty normal thing for people to see. Bring toys that crinkle and plenty of pacifiers so when one hits the floor, you don't have to worry about cleaning it, just grab another!

call ahead to your airline and try to get pre assigned seats..ask for an window, if possible ask them if they can do a courtesy infant block so you and your husband can have the whole row..when you check in at the airport ask if they can move you to a bulkhead seat for more comfort and a little more privacy..most airports have areas where you can nurse your baby, just ask your airline rep to point it out..I recommend taking a small bag full of your daughter's favorite toy as a carry on..kids act totally different when they're on an aircraft..good luck and have a safe flight
