This year, next or never? Do you think Bush will really do as he says, or someone else (2009 Prez) will have to pick up where he left off? And what about our troops, who have to do what they are told by our government? Is everyone as sick of this as I am?

I think it will last at least as long as the Cold War did, and probably longer, and heres why.
#1. We have people here in the US who believe that America got what it deserved on September 11th 2001, and many of them are now in control of the Congress trying to stop the funding for the troop surge and retreat in defeat.
#2. We have a patient enemy that doesn't mind waging war for many years. They do not have the same mentality as westerners do, if they can get the war to drag on and on it is better for them, as Americans and other western nations have a microwave mentality - meaning we want what we want and we want it now. And when we dont get what we want and how we want it, we have a tendency to complain, ***** and moan, until those who are trying to win are forced to give up.
#3. The US has lost a lot of credibility overseas, not necessarily because of the war in Iraq, but because we exposed the Oil For Food Scandal. Sure France, Germany, and Russia like to say we are waging an illegal war, but the fact of the matter is that they are pissed off that they aren't getting cheap oil for illegal goods anymore... this in turn has caused the US to loose favor with those governments who in turn feed this illegal war propiganda to their citizens who in turn feel that America is the culprit, and it doesn't help when those I mentioned in #1 above are echoing their anti-American comments.
#4. We are not fighting to win, political correctness and political interests have a long history of drawing out wars far longer than they should be.

And so... the war will continue on for many years, with future presidents launching the occasional air strike on various terrorist elements, we will have troops stationed in Iraq for many years, just like we have had in Germany, Japan, and Bosnia (and various other locals), until eventualy we either become so "sick of it" we simply throw our hands up and surrender, or until the terrorist go to far and we get a POTUS with some gonads who bombs them back into the stone age, and all of those who support them.

First of all, great question. To tell the truth, I don't know when the war will end, we now are in to deep. I am against the war, and think that the president has made a big mess. The war was not needed-and I hate it that this war is called "The War on Terror". If this really were the war on Terror, we would be fighting in Afghanistan-where the people who actually attacked the U.S came from!! Anyway back to the question, I think that in order for this war to end, we will have to have a president who has a little sense, and someone who is strongly against the war. Mam, I am as sick as you are about this whole mess, and also feel for our troops. I want this to end because there was no call for it-I have no idea what the president was thinking! The only good thing about George W. Bush is the fact that he can no longer run for president!

"The War On Terrorism" is an ideological misnomer. Terrorism is a method not a physical army. Characterizing it as such may have seemed clever at the time the phrase was coined but in the end the terminology only serves to make other peoples and Nations more fearful of the United States especially after the spectacle of carrying " The War on Terrorism " into Iraq with an unprovoked pre-emptive attack in retaliation for 9/11 and further more preventing Iraq from an imminent attack on the US using their massive stock piles of WMD.
9/11 was due cause for stepped up vigilance against terrorists and terrorists tactics but characterizing that due diligence as an all out Global War that " Will last beyond our lifetimes" is tantamount to fear mongering in it's own right and , if anything, begs for more terrorism and more war for it's own sake. Fear breeds fear and fear creates enemies so in combating terrorists our leadership needs to be more vigilant in their choice of terminology least their grandstanding serves to irritate an already volatile situation.

Islamo-Facists was yet another verbal invention that points to the current Administrations inability to use language constructively to address the current situation.
“You are either with us or you are with the terrorists”
That little gem proved to be a better advertisement for weapons dealers from Calcutta to Chicago than reassurance in a time of severe trials testing Global peace. And on it goes.
Things are about in as big a mess now as any administration could possibly muster in 6 years, things will eventually calm down in Iraq by if attrition if nothing else but the enigma of our role will remain none the less and the only way out of that dark cloak is to admit our mistake and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Maybe then we can announce the end of this Neo Con “ Global WAR on Terrorism” and get back to the business at hand of intelligent cooperation with the global neighbor hood in preventing terrorists acts through sound intelligence and rooting the terrorists out surgically rather than with displays of grand military exposés of “Shock and Awe” against phantoms of evil planted in our minds in concert to the “Project for the New American Century” .

The war on terror will never completely end. The War in Iraq will end as soon as a new President is elected, which will more than likely at least decrease terrorism, therefore, decreasing the need for war on terror.

The war on terror will not end it is now a Holy War between the Islamic Jihad. Their misson is to make everyone to accept Islam if not then you will be killed.(most likely be-headed). In their Quran it quotes the following:Fight and slay the Pagans (that's us) whereever you find them, and sieze them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every strategem.(of War) Surah 9: 5.
The punishment of those who wage war against Allah & his messenger( I guess these are the insurgents) & strive with might & maim for mischief through the land is;excution or crucifixon, or the cutting of hands and feet on the opposite sides, or exile from the land. Surah 5:33.
Now this describes all that does not follow in the ways of Islam. This is pure evil, not religion and certainly not of God.

Bible Prophecy does say toward the coming of Jesus to gather His Saints, there will be one religion and one world order. All believers in God the Father & JESUS THE SON & THE HOLY SPIRIT will be with our Lord before all the horror of nuclear war starts. This is how close we are!
I don't believe our American Soldiers will be coming home at
all. Iran, Russia know the way to destroy America is to hit at the heart of our Military. Bush should have our Soldiers home,
because the fighting is not going to stop. Convert to Islam or be killed. Jesus tells us that those left behind will have a chance to convert (a few) to Him & not to worry about what you are to say when you go before the evil ones, Jesus will give us the words & he will take care of the rest. Repent of your sins now and not take a chance of being be-headed & tortured. These people are fanatical & out of complete control. Thier destanation is HELL of no return. You do not get a three day pass just to see if you are going to like it. It is for enternity, Hell is Hot & HELL IS NEVER OVER!

In order to have correct perception of terrorism, you should in depth study of the issue. External factors are responsible for this uprising. War on Terror will end only if there is change of mind. We should expect that these groups will see the ground realities and will use peaceful means to advance their agenda which is political in nature.

The conflict will by no ability end, i wish! The dSLR industry is only too juicy and wealthy for any producer who makes money in it to provide up, or maybe to have the money for dropping the proportion. so as that they are going to maintain on scuffling with, giving us greater valuable cameras, greater valuable lenses and greater valuable upload-ons all at cheap expenses! yet while the conflict ever ends, we will finally end up with overpriced, undersupported, gruesome and lacking in advantageous components and high quality cameras! because of the fact while the manufacturers compete - purchasers win! LEM. P.S.... ok, truthfully i think of i know an answer on your question! dSLR conflict will end while new technologies is developed, regardless of that's going to be, and could develop into as popular as dSLR's are popular now. Then maximum manufacturers will provide up producing dSLR's and could initiate making ummm.. quantum-laser-plasma-polymorphic cameras. So there will be a conflict at that front, jointly as no one would be drawn to competing in the shrinking dSLR industry, and digital altogether will slowly die out, with just some committed manufacturers continuing offering their unswerving dSLR consumers, jointly as the consumers of qlpp cameras will look into them skeptically, the way lots of people who shoot digital look a action picture followers now! some faculties nevertheless will require their pupils to understand digital in the past doing any qlpp paintings, so as that they comprehend the fundamentals of how a digicam works and the thank you to function particular controls and purposes, so as that they might have a greater valuable wisdom of the roots of photographs!

Read George Orwell's "1984". He predicted this war would take place. He even predicted the lies, and the shifting of alliances sometimes.
The war will never end. Oil companies, corporations like Halliburton, investment funds like Carlyle Group, armament makers like Boeing, Lokheed-Martin, etc. need permanent war to survive.

Terror is a tactic, not an enemy. It's been around since the dawn of man and will be around at his end. Politicians will use the threat of terror (a form of terror in itself) to advance their various agendas as long as the Chicken Little crowd clucks every time they say "boo."
