I believe that "good looking" Str8 dudes are much more promiscuous than gay men in general.
I've got some great looking, Str8 college buddies who have sex with 5-6 different women a week.
Most gay dudes tend to "go out" on weekends only, when the gay clubs are open...and usually go home alone...IMHO.
Research on this subject matter needs to be better refined.

Whether sexual promiscuity is acceptable or not is a matter of opinion, gay or not gay. Some people recognize that it opens you up to a boatload of potential problems with STDs, and will damage your relationship with someone if they want a monogamous relationship. Whether or not a gay man (or any man or woman) should accept sexual promiscuity is totally a matter of what they are looking for. If you want just sex, then good for you! If you want more than that, then sexual promiscuity is a bad thing in many ways. The gay men who will not accept it are the ones that want security and/or more out of a relationship.

That is up to the individual relationships. Personally, I would not accept sexual promiscuity in my partner, and it has been well discussed. So, in order for him to get "away with it" for as long as he could, he would not be honest and open about it, unless he wants to start packing!
Of course, hopefully if he goes around and cheats on me he'll have respect enough for me to let me know. I don't feel like being instantly worried about STDs. Yes, you can get an STD even if protection is used. There are risks.

1. That depends on the person and the relationship.
No matter how careful one is, promiscuity carries the risk of STD so you have to ask yourself, is it really worth it? In my opinion, promiscuity is nothing more than personal selfishness. I have someone I fully intend to be with for the rest of my life. I'm quite sexually satisfied being with him and would not want to catch anything that would endanger him, interrupt our sexual relationship, or shorten the time we have together. Most mature men realize that and agree.

This is not just a gay issue this is a human issue.
Our society has drummed being monogamous into our heads for centuries. The concept of just being honest is drummed into our heads so much that we can only survive by being dishonest, other wise there is too much risk of loosing more then just the relationship.
Hey this is a dishonest world you know.
I used to think it was an honest one but no its more dishonest then honest, look at the government, court systems, policing systems, school, look every where and you see more dishonesty and exceptions of dishonesty then not.

acceptability of promiscuity is in the eye of the beholder. also, promiscuity has nothing to do with sexual orientation either..
every individual needs to decide who they are and what their values are. they should only be promiscuous if they are 100% at peace with that value to themself. in the end, we all have to look in the mirror every day and be satisfied with who we are and what we do..
