Do white people really think that Black americans are better off because of them?

Do white people really believe THEY civilized US? (If it were not for the Moors in Europe would still be in the dark ages. It was the moors that preserved the knowledge of greece and rome.)

Indeed, white man taught savagery to the black man

Do white people believe that black people had no religion. (Do your own research many Slaves brought to the new world were muslim)

If so shouldn't black people celebrate willie lynch instead of MLK?

BTW, for all the white peopl who say "african sold thier own people" It wasn't the africans, who raped and killed for generations, it wasn't the africans, who dehumanized, and tried to reduce black people to beast of burden.

Slavery wasn't the issue, it was the cruelty. Hell, if white people hadn't been so cruel, they might have held on to slavery a bit longer.

I dint' say anything about hating white people. Im just wondering if they really do think they did us a favor by enslaving us. Because I hear white people say it all the time (im not generalizing, I hear it often and its always a white person saying it. Im not saying all white people feel this way. That is why Im asking)

It sounds something like "Black people in America have such a higher standard of living than Africans, they should be thankful" Its assumes that if African had been left to its own devices it would not have had any developement.

I don't think you should thank us anymore than you should blame us. I know this will get deleted even though i'm telling FACT. Blacks commit crime at a much higher rate than any other race in America. Blacks, are the most likely race to commite murder, rape, theft, and armed robery.(FBI fact book)

I don't think I've civilized anyone. the problem with your question is you, as a black man have generalized the entire white race because YOU have a problem. But, I'll bet you would fight it if a white man made a stereotype about you.

Once blacks realize that no one is out to "get them" they'll be much happier. I watch a neat project on cnn the other day. Black kids from 3-5 where sked to pick the better doll between a white doll and a black doll. They almost ALL chose the white baby. they were also asked to chose the worst baby, they almost all again chose the white baby.

What does this teach us? it teaches us that black parents inavertantly teach their children that whites are superior. as an axample, if I told you "the blue eyed people are out to get you, they push you down every chance they get" you might draw it into your subconsious that blue eyed people can do this because they are superior, and therefor able to.

My wife is a nurse and we watch it together. I asked my 6 year old to come in ad answer some questions. I showed him 2 pics side by side, 1 white, 1 black. I asked, which one of these guys is the guy who commited a crime. he said "I'm not sure" so, I asked "which one of these two children are going to be president" he pointed to the black kid. I asked him why and he said "because he looks smart and nice" what did this tell me? that my kid, inspit of having a closet racist father, doesn't see skin. although online, I think most blacks are over sensitive and looking for a handout, I've never ever expressed a difference to my children. I don't think that most blacks can say that.

Now, lets get to the last point here. you forget some white people...who died for the end of cruel slavery in America. Many white men dedicated their entire life to ending slavery. William Lloyd Garrison is a prim example, and many more. he did more for the black race and their freedom than ANY black man did.

SO, you can sit around thinking white people are out to get you, and ruin your childrens life, and their childrens life. OR you could realize that only 25% of the south owned slaves and with the entire US accounted for, less than 10% owned slaves. thats 90% of white America that never owned a slave.

Grow up a bit and open your mind, its not what you think it is.

The most intriguing thing about this forum is the ability of people to pretend to be any culture they choose. Are you a black person, a white person, or an other?

Some actually fall for the pretense of others here. Whatever the case what sources are you getting your information from?

Some white people are as evil as the day is long. Others died for your grandparents and parents civil rights. Which of the these two groups do you hate? If you don't hate both than you should keep that in mind when raving about one part of the whole.

Not to mention, everyone of my friends that were gunned down in Chicago were gunned down by whom? I know blacks that should be burned alive at the stake for the evil they've commited. I know some whites that should have been burned alive as well.

I also know people from all cultures including my own who have done more to help me than I could ever hope to repay...

OK, did a "white person" recently tell you that you should thank them?

Please get over the slavery issue. Its the past. East Indians were also used as slaves, that's how we were brought to the Caribbean. You don't hear us talking about it centuries later. Schools don't even acknowledge slavery of Indians like they do with the blacks.

So please let the issue fly away and get over it. Stress can make us sick. Especially stress that is unnecessary .

Life is too short. Lets just live.

Yes I believe that black people in America living now should thank the White man for the fact that they are NOT in Africa. The American black has never known slavery and most have never known a life without civil rights. Yet I hear all the time that the blacks want some kind of special treatment from the Whites. Whether it be minority consideration, affirmative action, points added to an application, or even reparation. The black person needs to stop segragating themselves. It is way past time to do away with the question of race on an application. It is time to disband the naacp. It is time to disband the congressional black caucus. Time to call the united ***** college fund the underprivilaged college fund. Get rid of 'bet' black entertainment television. It is all fine and good to have a group, but when you exclude someone based on their skin color isn't THAT discrimination? As for some of the answers I see, some people say that Adam and Eve didn't exist or that they were White. No, they did exist, but they were Jewish. Scientist can tell us with absolute proof that EVERYONE alive on the face of the Earth today has the SAME maternal mitochondrial DNA, whether you are black, White, Asian, or Indian. The humaniod "Lucy" that was found in Africa and carbon dated to 2.5 or 3 million years old has the same maternal mitochondrial DNA as does everyone on Earth. So this proves that we are all somewhat related. BUT, Adam was not the first human( he lived only 6000 years ago), he was the first PERFECT man that God made. If you will read Genisis in the Bible VERY carefully you will see that God had created male and female and told them to go forth and populate the Earth. THEN He made Adam and placed him in the garden of Eden. Then He made Eve. It was not God's intention that Adam and Eve leave the garden. They were to live in the garden FOREVER. They were to be God's trophies. The PERFECT beings NOT like the pre-perfect beings He had worked on; just like we can now do with genetic engineering. But those pre-perfects were decendents of "Lucy". They are most assurdedly earlier ones that may never be found but Adam and Eve had the same maternal DNA as "Lucy" and the same as we have. But when God got His genetic engineering just right He created the perfected man and placed him in the garden and left the others outside on their own to multiply. It says that God came down in the cool of the evening to walk and talk with Adam. Adam and Eve were God's company, someone that had intelligence and that, when they sinned knew right from wrong and had become "as one of us" But when they sinned God kicked them out to live amongst the other beings and eventually die like the others. So what you have is ONLY people decended from the ORIGINAL lineage of Adam becoming civilized. And remember this takes place in ONLY 6000 years. ALL others did not become civilized. These include the black Africans, the Australian Aboriginies and the North and South American Indians who were at the turn of the 20th century, and some still are, living in the stone age. They would have never built a car or a plane much less a spaceship. So yes, the blacks should thank the White man, so should the Indians and the Aborigines for bringing them out of the stone age. Now you may say I am biased in my opinion. Well I am 1/16 North American Cherokee Indian, and I would MUCH rather be here typing on this computer than trying to puff out smoke signals.

I would say that no one is better off because of someone else, save maybe your family and friends. History records conflicts and conquests and war, not acts of kindness. History is also Euro-centric, and it is only recently that scholars have begun to acknowledge that it is biased.

Because I am White, I have the luxury of knowing much more of my family's pre- American lineage, which is partially Sicilian.

Sicily was orginally inhabited by various small tribes. Throughout history, conquored by the Greeks, African Carthage, Romans, Vandals, Ostrogoths, Byzantines, Muslim Arabs, Normans, German Swabians, French Anjou, Spanish Aragon, Austrians, and than French and then Italy again.

I wouldn't say that I am "better off" because of any of these groups, and I wouldn't say that if they hadn't interfered in the Sicani or Siculi tribe's affairs, that I would be "more savage" than if they hadn't. My point is, you can't say what would or wouldn't have been based upon what we know of history.
What you can do is learn from it the best you can, and insist that the way it is currently being written allows for more groups' input than what has traditionally been allowed.

I don't think black people should thank whites for anything. I mean, what is there to thank them for. I have found that it is the whites who have aused destrcution the past 1000 years. I have nothing against whites, I am half white half North African. I was disappointed when I visited a Spanish enclave in Morocco and discovering what the Spanish did to the Moroccans hard working architechture. And you are true when you say white man taight savagery to the black man. I'm not being racist but my black friends in America are more destructive than my friends from Africa, all because of the white man. White people also probably believe the black Africans had little rituals instead of religion (and yes, they were muslims, because of the North Africans converting them) So overall, no, blacks thanking whites is wrong.

Well we can't really generalize a whole race, but I see in what form you are speaking. And it's true, alot do, not all but alot, same to me, I'm Mexican and they [someee not all but mosttt] practically want us to be thankful they stole our land and made it 'better', as if we were just a bunch of stupid people with land that we didn't know how to use. Hellooo, Aztecs?? Great culture. Me myself, I'm Mestizo (indegenous and spanish blood--spanish cuz they raped the indegenous ppl), as most of the people in Mexico, but for some reason they think they civlized everyone.

The U.S. being the number 1 country can make people put their noses in the air. But like I said, Not All do, only the uneducated ones. Every race has it's goods and its bads and we as minorities can't stay in a position that has been left in the past. I cannot keep pointing the finger at them for what their ancestors did to mine, you cannot do the same. Move on. What does get me mad are the people that still think their ancestors did great things for ours and how we should be THANKFUL. wthh. Those are the people that get me upset, again the ones that are uneducated. As for most white people, they know what their ancestors did wrong, and they shouldn't have to pay for what they did, unfortunatley for others, the mentality of their ancestors has survived generations and they are still close-minded and self-absorbed. Don't let the thoughts of others bring you down, make your people proud, make your people rise. =)

BTW, to Carol, God is not white. Movies always show Jesus as blonde hair blue eyed, I always thought he would look Middle Eastern, but the bible describes him to be dark and have sheep's wool hair. Wouldn't that be a fro? He could be black. Who knows? But what I do know is we shouldn't love someone for the color of their skin, we shouldn't see God and wonder what He is, we should love him for the love He returns and for all He has done for us....God Bless.

Muslim Arabs were taking black slaves for 1000 years before white Europeans got in on the act. But in both cases, they didn't do it without the help of black Africans.

I always wondered why the whites didn't do what the arabs did...castrate the male slaves.

What's this about "It wasn't the africans, who raped and killed for generations, it wasn't the africans, who dehumanized." When's your next field trip to africa?
