Even though its bitter, I agree with you..Statistics speak themselves..India's performance is veryyyy poor overseas..even on the home pitches its very inconsistent...
Being the only popular sport we're all stuck with it..

We have several great players with individual world records, but the way they give up some matches easily drives India away the best team spot...they dont even resist the defeat sometimes..they just accept it...They chase world record score one day and next day they collapse for a record low score..

It is a common trend that each team perform well in their home soil but do not show the same performance when they go to other countries. Dont forget that India defeated South Africa for the first time in the history of cricket. India have also defeated countries like Australia, England, Pakistan, West Indies etc. in their countries. While I agree that Indian team is not the strongest in the world as far as performance in away series is concerned, it is totally unfair to pass such a statement as has been made by you about the Indian team.

You are right in a way. You need to have batsman that apply technique rather than luck or aggresion in order for you to win outside. So, people with the technique like Gavaskar, Dravid, Sachin, Laxman etc., excel. If the pitch suits to batting, then people like Ganguly, Sehwag, Dhoni, Yuvraj etc.,play well because they 'time' the ball rather than applying the technique. That's why on one of the WI pitches (I don't remember), Dravid was the only batsman to score some runs where even Lara failed to score.
