I read this one last week. It has been sitting on my self for the past 10 years, and oh boy I can not believe how great it is. Highly recommended. Here's something for fun: take notice of when the words 'and so it goes' occur and see if you can link the phrase with something that is always mentioned at that same time. Also, while reading and you are getting a good grasp on what's happening look up images on the web of Dresden. It will make it come even more alive. Happy reading!

If you enjoy reading Vonnegut, Slaughterhouse 5 is great. The movie couldn't do the book justice, which is a common result when turning a book into a movie. Mr. Vonnegut uses his gift of seeing things as they are, demonstrating their faults and giving his readers hope in a steadily declining world. His sense if irony is
to the point and humorous.

Everyone should read this book. Vonnegut's style is very easy to read, but the story is very complex. Billy Pilgrim believes he has come unstuck in time. He relives the best and worst times of his life including the horrific fire-bombing of Dresden which he witnesses as an American POW.

It is a book about war and the strain it can put on an indivdual when there is nothing to rely on as a human being. Death is coming at you in so many directions and desperation is all you have.
