First thing's first: whatever you do, don't order contact lenses through a website!
See your optometrist. There are many brands of contact lenses, but certain people can only wear certain kinds. Prescription or not, an eye exam (you can sometimes get one free, especially if you're a first-time visitor to the office) will fit your vision type and the size that you need. Yes--it's possible that a contact lens won't fit!
For instance, I also have very dark brown eyes. I wear FreshLook ColorBlends in green; they look natural on me. I was told by my optometrist that Acuvue 2 contact lenses will not fit properly on me, and he recommended a different brand.
You can get all the information you need, see examples of products, and even sample them for free at your local optometrist's office. Good luck.

Not to be a downer, but I also had very dark brown eyes, and I wanted colored contacts, especially green cause it is my favorite color and it is beautiful. But when I put them in, it was virtually impossible to see them; however, I did try blue ones and they showed up and were really pretty. So I guess I am suggesting blue ones, but yeah your eye doctor will have a big selection that you can actually try on in the office. Good luck!

I have used colored contacts and I can tell you that you will not be able to achieve light green over dark brown eyes. At most, your eyes will look hazel.

Your eye doctor will have loads of contact lenses and they will allow you to try them on to see what you like best. I used to have green ones, loved them. There are great blue green shades, too.

I think you can get contacts that are either opaque, which will cover any other color, or transparent, that will blend with your natural color. I always wanted mirrored contacts.

I f your eyes are that dark it might be hard to lighten them that much.It may not be possible!
