can somebody explain dimples to me?

i just want to know what makes a dimple, and how come some people have them and some dont, and why some ppl (like myself) only have one on one cheek, but not the other

Dimples are caused by a muscle in your face being shorter than "normal". It is a genetic trait and that is why some people have them and others no. Having just one dimple it a rarer form of the genetic trait, so consider youself lucky!

For example, while Kirk Douglas has a very conspicuous cleft chin, his son, Michael Douglas has a much less visible cleft chin. Females generally have less conspicuous cleft chins than males.

The groove of the cleft chin is not just skin-deep, but also on the jawbone, as a groove in the vertical midline of symphysis menti and the soft tissue above it. It is probably the result of incomplete fusion between the left and right halves of the lower jaw during embryologic development.

Dimples are a dominate trait. Its an indentation of the muscles and your genetics determine how deep or how many you have. I have a deep dimple on my left cheek and a small one on my right. I also have a dimple on my chin like Jessica Simpson. Its very dominate only one parent has to have a dimple for their children to have a dimple. My mom has a dimple, so most likely I got it from her.

Dimples are when a person has either a LOT of fat or NONE in their cheeks. when they smile, the fat gets drawn in, which created a dimple!!!!!!!!!Dimples depend of the amount of fat you have!!!!!
