I just arrived in Canada and someone told me that fishing is not allowed, is that true? I do not mean fishing from a boat but rather from the shore.

Yes, fishing is allowed in Dubai. You can see many people fishing from shores.

Cheers.

Of course fishing is allowed in Dubai. You will find nice fishing spots here and will catch fishes like Cat fish, Hamour, Shere, Baraccuda etc.
Good fishing spots are Dubai-Creek, Maktoum/Gharound Bridge, Jadaff and Mumzar behind Hayat Regency/Jumairah.

Do not fish without license, there are very regular checks.

Log on to: www.dm.gov.ae and register.

You might join the fishermen chatroom for local area of dubai under: http://www.fishreports.net
