Yes, much like how turkey makes you tired.
I believe they both have tryptophan, but you notice in most in turkey on Thanksgiving, because you consume such great quantities.

The top 10 foods that will help you sleep, according to RealAge.com:
3. Warm milk
Mom was right! Milk contains a trace of tryptophan, an amino acid with a sedative-like effect, as well as calcium, which helps the brain process tryptophan.

Warm milk is often considered relaxing. Though more likely, its the warmth than the milk itself. I reccommend adding a little honey and cinnamon to warm milk. Tasty.

it only takes about a half cup of milk, but it needs to be heated to steaming (not simmering or boiling).
The breaking down of the proteins (which include melatonin) and the breaking down of the milk sugars by the heat, make for a kind of "milk speedball" except it puts you to sleep instead of getting you hyper.
To avoid the gas, use soymilk or lactaid or a digestive enzyme.

Yes, it does. Not sure why Exactly, but it does seem to, not even heated up, just from the fridge. That's why they suggest kids try warm milk before they go to bed, not sure why warm, maybe it is just more soothing.
