I'm tired of people saying that I am too cockey. It is retarded and it just leads me to think that they must not really value themselves enough to stroke their own ego. Kind of sad for them.

I have a lot of respect for people who know who they are and are proud of it. As long as you don't judge others and put other people down i see nothing wrong with having an air of confidence.

Maybe its not the confident statement but the way you make that statement, if people think you are cocky, have you ever thought about the way you come across to people and other reasons why they might say something like that. Why do you need to stroke your own ego if your so confident? It doesnt mean they dont value themselves, maybe they just dont value you.

I agree, as long as you can back it up! No, confidence is sexy, if anything. *********, as I see it, are those types that have that smug look but are actually kinda dumb. Typically they are good looking, charming (for the wrong reasons) and try and "use" that as a tool. (Think pro athletes, country singers defending the Iraq war). President Clinton, as an example, was very confident, but he could back it up, because he was a brilliant man, a road scholar!

So what was your confident statement??

I share the exact same view, actually. I am a very confident person, i believe in myself & i know what my good qualities are.
Often, people mistake it for arrogance because in our society, it is more acceptable to point out your flaws and dislike yourself rather than focus on your good qualities. People who have low self esteem expect that everyone else should feel the same.
However, you should never let these people bother you. Keep being confident but never judge people or make fun of others.
Try complimenting the people you know with low self esteem & pointing out their good qualities, & you can help other peolpe be just as confident as you are, and in turn, they will be more accepting of your confidence.

I by no ability mentioned i became into conceited each and all of the time!!! i'm truthfully a very right down to earth individual...it only comes out now and lower back, i think of all people has their moments.and that i mentioned it seems that way, as in a super sort of human beings anticipate that if all people is advantageous then they are conceited.

Listen - if people are saying that you are too cocky, you'd do well to listen to them because they're not saying it for their health. Don't wake up and be almost 40 and realize they're right. Do a little introspection of your personality to find out why EVERYONE keeps telling you that.

There's a big difference between confident and cocky. Find it.

If it is a continual statement on the same subject then it is considered cocky.
If it is mentioned once maybed twice then it is considered confident.
