It is usually caused by several factors, build up of lactic acid, lack of blood flow to the muscles during exercise, and lack of oxygen to the muscles.
-Make sure you are breathing correctly as you dance and taking in as much oxygen as possible.
-The most important thing is stretching. Make sure you stretch out really well. Now that your muscles are sore, stretching will help to work out the soreness (I know it hurts, but breathe through he pain and do it). You must stretch your muscles before your rehearsal AND after you rehearse. Most people neglect stretching to cool down after a hard rehearsal. Stretching afterwards will help to break up that build up of lactic acid and get more blood and oxygen to your muscles after you have worked them so hard.
-Take Aleve or Ibuprofin, that will help if you have injured your muscles and have some swelling as well as help with the discomfort of the sore muscles. Take it before you begin rehearsal.
-Use Biofreeze, Tiger Balm, Icy Hot or something like that to help when you start working out again today. I have also used the patches instead of the rub. Either one will help out.
-Hot showers or hot baths after you have worked out can help also.
Good luck! We have all experienced it and it's not fun to rehearse on sore muscles. Just keep thinking of the excitement of the performance and what a great time that will be! It will help keep you motivated!

ooooo been there done that. Well one of the best things is to take lots of baths and to relax after working hard. I have this stuff at my house called biofreeze and you just put it where it is sore and it works really well. another good thing to do is take ibuprofin. If you take it when your sore before you go to bed or just whenever, it works wonders and you cant feel a sore muscle in your body. hope this helps!
p.s i'm really jelous that your in HSM lol but all the luck to you.

No, repetition will eventually get rid of it. Massage and knead with your knuckles (no matter how much it hurts, don't over do it though) when sitting on the floor with your legs in front of you (use Tiger Balm or lotion or massage oils). Take a bubble bath. lol. And stretch your thighs by lying on your back on the floor, and tucking one leg under your butt.
Its unavoidable. Good luck with the musical!

When you are dancing, remember, breathe! That is what really helps, before you start to dance, do some breathing exercises. Also, stretch! Before you dance do some stretches. This mainly helps because it prevents injuries of your body, and in your muscles.
Hope this helps!!
Take a warm, hot bath to soothe your muscles after dance practice!!
