The Vikings need a lot of help. They will probably draft a QB but not with their first pick. Maybe they can go out and get Garcia. Brad Johnson has been over the hill for 10 years now.

Head Coach Brad Childress has already said that QBs Tarvaris Jackson and Brooks Bollinger will compete for the starting job, which leads me to believe that if the Vikings do pick a QB, it will only be in the later stages of the draft. Their biggest needs are at WR where the team has no reliable ones and at DE where Darrion Scott and Kenechi Udeze have not been effective pass rushers and Erasmus James is coming of an ACL injury. To fill the WR need, look for them to draft Ted Ginn of Ohio State with the 7th overall pick.

Why not, then you can send Brad Johnson back to my Bucs because we were doing just fine with him before the Spleenster (Chris Simms).
Seriously though, I think they pick up a WR in the draft and pull a QB off free agency. There'll be a few out there in due time and they picked up Jackson last year so they can develop him as well. You can't have great numbers as a QB when you don't have anyone to throw too. I would've thought since it's been a bit since they lost both Carter and Moss they would've attempted to fill that void sooner.

the vikings dont need to use any of their first picks on a qb but maybe later on in the draft late pick up one theres alot of possibalities out there rumors of david carr for possiably a fourth round draft pick jake plummer garica the vikings need to bring in someone or draft someone to pump up the competion level at least. the vikings have some needs to fill at othe rpositons and should address those first put it all depends if a player falls or rises at the combine so its jsut a wait and see

I think you have to give Tarvaris Jackson a shot first. Brad Johnson is too old. He'll be in a wheel chair out there pretty soon. Instead the Vikings need to focus on someone for Jackson to throw the ball to. A good receiver in the draft and one from free agents and you have a pretty good team. GO VIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Give Tarvaris A chance but draft a QB in like the 3rd-4th round like Tyler Palko...He's not gonna be that effectvie but he will be a solid backup.
There is free agency though...
They should look for guys their too like Omar Jacobs or Quinn Gray (If the Jags Dont Resing Him)
and remember, Leftwich's hopes aren' looking good in Jacksonville...he may ba a FA this offseason.

no way!!!!!!!! Brad Johnson is an upper tier QB in the NFL with plenty of years left in his tank. is this a serious question by a Vikings fan?????????? im not sure if there are more than 3 teams in the NFL with more of a need for a QB than the Vikings.

qb is one of the concerns for the vikings however i think they would be better of picking up some god wr talent and maybe trying to sign a vet quarterback like plummer or garcia or someone else who is more proven they have a good d and good running game but bad wr's

What for? They played Tavaris Jackson only 2 games, so obviously you need to give him more time! What they probably need is a quality RECEIVER, ya know, like the one they discarded 2 years ago! (Dumbest move ever.) But back to the QB issue--there's serious talk of Jeff Garcia coming aboard, so there's another reason.
