You are doing fine on the Ram and Processor. Some games are just more dependant on the Graphics side then the CPU. Medieval 2 Total War is tough on some of the best computers, and really requires a beefy video card. It barely runs on my laptop which has a 128 meg vid card (x1400, 128 additional megs shared), but a core 2 processor (2.00ghz). Shut down as many programs as you can by clicking Start, then Run, then typing msconfig, click on the startup tab on the far right, then uncheck as many programs as possible (nothing there is vital) to keep them from starting. Try running again. If not much help, go with a healtheir video system (256mb). If you got a laptop, well, your stuck with what brought ya.

Use this program to see what is inside your computer, use Belarc.

INFORMATION SITES
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html -- info on computer inside
http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
http://www.crucial.com/index.asp -- info and price on memory

Then on the Belarc see if you can cut and paste the top half to me. Put cursor on left edge, press key CONTROL and key letter C at same time. Now left click cursor and move down the cursor and then the letters outline what you are copying. Then in the email just put the cursor in a blank place, press Control and Letter V and the info you copied will appear.

Anyway, what it is you can send if you have a video card attached or something that says integrated video. If you have a integrated chip and no card then the game may be mighty slow and jerky. Also you will be able to check how much actual ram you have in there. Also send the HP brand model number. If it is a desk top you have a good chance of upgrading compared to a laptop. I can let you know what you can do to upgrade if possible.

turn the pics down in the concepts menu- particularly, the 1st ingredient you're able to tone down (or maybe even turn off thoroughly) is the shadow information. It does not make the interest look lots greater valuable and plus greater desirable shadows and lighting fixtures many times shrink overall performance incredibly lots. i can play greater valuable with each little thing at max devoid of shadows than i can with each little thing at low with extreme high quality shadows

you seem to be well overated on specs you provided but you haven't put graphics down for us to see.
or your cd drive but i'm guessing that with the specs you have, you're gonna have a dvdrw anyway?
you may find you have too many proccesses running in background during gameplay
