Bluetooth = Wireless mouse that uses the Bluetooth communication protocol.

Optical= Any mouse that uses an infared LED to track movement. It has no ball, so no clogging and more accurate movement.

WIreless just means it has not wires. Can use either bluetooth or RF frequency transfer of information.

For a laptop, ideally you would want a Bluetooth Optical mouse.

Bluetooth has a relatively low power consumption when compared to the other forms of wireless.

A bluetooth mouse is basically a wireless optical mouse, no cords, and will work on rough surface.
An optical mouse is a mouse which will work on any surface, but you need a cord for it.
A wireless mouse usually has a little infared oprt that plugs into your computer. This can be good.

But if your laptop has bluetooth built into it you wont need a bluetooth adapater for ur USB port.
I would prefer to use a bluetooth.

A wireless mouse: It uses less power, is more dependable, and can be made very lite and easy to use. Plus the hardware has been around for a while so they've had time to prefect it.

Not Bluetooth because: It's just too new. And, it can flux in dependability by the signals gettign interupted

Not Optical because: Well, I think your talking about a mouse with a a cord, in which case it gets very cumbersome to carry around and store. Hope that helps!

bluetooth is the WORST for mice. Ask anyone who's had one. Optical is fine, lightweight, inexpensive and not overly sensitive as the laser ones are. Wireless is good too, if you can get a rechargeable one and not a battery only operated one. They always seem to die out when you need them most.

It depends upon your needs as to what is preferable.
