Hi, there is actually no correct answer to your question. According to China it is the 3rd largest country in the world with 9,640,821 square kilometers - this includes Aksai Chin and Trans-Karakoram Tract, both territories claimed by India (Taiwan is not included but would make little difference). If you do not include the disputed areas China is 9,598,086 square kilometers - which is smaller than the United States which has an area of 9,629,091 square kilometers (including only the 50 states + DC and the US Pacific islands).
So it depends - China is either bigger than the USA... or it is smaller... It depends if you give China credit for lands that are disputed. Personally I think it is more correct to not include disputed lands, so I would rank China as the fourth biggest country by area behind the United States.
