I think that question could stand for many things. One would be that the person in charge is ready to interview someone and is being polite in showing him/her in for the meeting/interview. It could also mean that somebody is about to get the axe. Especially if said supervisor never asks the person to go in to their office. I guess it all depends on the way we think about these things.
