No need to freak. The first visit is pretty thorough. You'll have a pelvic examination, your fundus will be measured, and depending on how far along you are, the dr. may check for a heartbeat. They will take an extensive medical history from you and your partner, and you will have the opportunity to ask lots of questions. You'll be given prenatals and information about diet and exercise changes.

Jot down any questions you have so you don't forget. It's easy to do, because that first visit hits you with a LOT of information. Don't be afraid to ask questions at any time. A good OB will be more than happy to answer anything you want to know.

Nothing to really freak out about at your first prenatal visit, but for your first pregnancy it can be a bit nerve racking.

At my first visit they discussed my medical history as well as my partners medical history, they confirmed my due date, then they discussed with me the services they offered and what I can expect during my pregnancy and finally they asked if I had any questions or concerns I wished to discuss.

I would assume you can expect something similar to this, but every hospital has different procedures so there might be some differences. Good Luck

They ask you a gazillion questions, including your families medical history. At mine I gave a urine sample, got a pap smear, did blood work (and they will test you for STD's to make sure your child is not at risk of getting them). They'll give you do's and don'ts and some doctors will do the first ultrasound if they have the machine in the office. If they do, then they'll use a wandlike contraption and insert in you because the baby's too little to see accuratly by regular means.

Don't worry and relax!! You're going to be a mommy!

You will be fine. They give you a standard pap test and also check to see if you have any std's.They may do a sonogram to see the baby. Then if everything is fine you will not be getting another look at down there til your about 35 weeks.Unless you get a yeast infection or something in between. That's about it!!Congrats and good luck!!!

No need to worry, but be prepared if they do an internal sonogram. It is not the paddle on the belly you see on TV. It is a long plastic rod that they insert in order to take more accurate and clearer pictures of a very small baby. It didn't hurt, just threw me for a loop.

They take blood to check all your blood counts, etc, to see if you are indeed pregnant. Then they weigh you, measure your tummy. They give you prenatal vitamins if you're not on them already. They do a pelvic measurement to assess the baby's growth. It doesn't hurt.

they ask alot of questions,do a urine sample, tell you what not to eat or drink, tell you to take prenatal vitamins, do a pap, probably measure your tummy to start recording growth, they schedual you for blood work, they might try to listen for a heart beat too depending on how soon you noticed you were pregnant.. thats about it

Not much, it's pretty much just like a PAP smear, but some additional blood work. You won't be able to hear the heartbeat at this visit.

Well, you talk to the doctor, fill out a lot of paperwork, they draw blood for a bunch of different tests, they'll do an internal exam to check out your cervix and usually do a pap test too. They palpate your uterus to make sure it's growing, measure your weight and blood pressure, and they check your pee for protien and glucose. Fun times.
