Not necessarily; however, to be on the safe side, wash it in cold water, especially the first few times it's in the laundry.

Pure cotton always shrinks ,no two ways about it,unless it has already been done for you ,the garment or material will carry information on it being pre shrunk.In India because of very hot summers we wear a lot of cotton & having a tailor made outfit is common place,it is customary to buy material a little in excess of what you need & soaking it for several hours or even overnight before it can be made up.

Heat shrinks cotton fibers. If you don't use hot water and you don't put the item in the dryer, it won't shrink the item.

Yes, especially if you put it in a dryer. Hang the item to dry and it won't shrink much at all.

Yes.... but if you buy it pre-shrunk, then it's already shrunk and it won't matter..... But if it's not pre-shrunk, it'll shrink, guaranteed.
