The Detroit Red Wings have quietly inched up and passed the slumping Nashville Preditors. Can the Red Wings go a bit deeper in the playoffs this year or will they get smoked like a sausage in the first round?

The Wings need to get tougher if they are going to get through the first round. They have no gritty enforcer and no one who can really stand up to opponents when they man handle Datsuk and Zetterberg. They need a power forward and fast! And if goaltending holds up, it's possible.

I think they have a legitimate shot this year. Hasek has been very good and he can still play at a high level. Zetterberg is on the cusp of superstardom, that guy just flat out knows how to play the game. Their defense is solid and are in the top 3 in goals against. They will need to make a trade deadline move for another top forward with good hands around the net. If Hasek stays healthy, this team can go deep into the playoffs. Look for Holland to make another good deadline move and he actually has some real money this year to spend. $500,000 for Hasek + incentives! What a deal as long as he stays healthy. Go Wings

They are at least going to the finals this year as long as they can beat Nashville for the conference title. Zetterberg is the real deal and the Wings' D is playing great. Plus the Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Holmstrom line is on fire. Lidstrom should be able to lead the team well in the playoffs and Hasek is still playing consistently. Go Wings!!

They will go deeper. The goaltending will be there when it needs to be. The offense will do its thing. I expect nothing less than a Conference finals appearence.

Once again, I don't think they're built for the playoffs. They are not a physical team and unless they address that with a physical forward, they won't sniff the cup.
I've heard rumors of Ryan Smith (Edm.) possibly coming here, but that's only speculation.

oh definetly make it past the quarters, how far after that? not sure but i know they wont make the stanley cup finals

i think they will make it to finals but get shut down by the devils defense and brodeur.
