Well, I just found out that a movie with the same name and story was made in the 80's and I was wondering whether anyone else knew about it.

No, I did not. I've read the book several times, and well I don't think that a movie will ever be as good as the book. It may be better than the old one because it will have better graphics and such. I also believe that it will be good, because it will target younger children who prefer to watch an updated version rather than one older than they are.

Yes sir, it was pretty good too, kinda sad though, you should watch it.. We had to watch it in 8th grade after we read the book.. There are lots of movies out now-a-days that are re-makes, I think Hollywood directors, and producers are slowly running out of ideas..

Are you stupid or something? It was a book written in the 70s, then it was a TV movie in the 80s.
