I am writing an essay for my college English class on Oedipus the King. It is 2-3 pages typed. I can find quotations and stuff like that - I did think I understood the play - after I paid attention and all that, I do all my work, but... I got a 10/15 on my quiz. So...

If anyone can just help me with an analysis and give me some starting points, I'll be fine to write the essay. My assignment is to either:

Analyze the role of the chorus...
Or
Discuss blindness and sight...

If anybody can help me relate those two topics in Oedipus the King by Sophocles - I guarantee you 10 points on answers. lol thanks!

When Oedipus goes to see the Oracle, he is told "you will kill you father, and marry your mother". If he were not "blind" he would have asked the question that he had actually came to ask, that is "who are my parents" There is a juxtaposition between the act of knowing and the misguided understanding. This is annalogous with the blindness theme. Cite some text regarding Oedipus's response to the oracle and talk about how sophocles develops this them and how it is annalogous to Oedipus' knowledge/understanding. Easy A....
