Hello?!? The show is named after her!!! You don't kill off the main charcter. i mean you can, but not when the show is about them!! That'd be stupid. It's prob gonna be like in House- sorta dies, hallucinates/dreams, comes back to life, new outlook on life etc

Yes. Meredith DID die.
Previews for next weeks episode also show Addison telling Derek that they still do not have a heartbeat for Meredith.
Nope, the season is not over (Thank gosh! I love it too much :)
How can it happen? Mmmm I dunno...but I've been listening to the Grey's Anatomy podcasts on iTunes and reading Shonda Rhimes' blog at abc.com ( http://www.greyswriters.com/ ) and there are some really interesting details about the metaphors she and the shows writers are making within all these episodes. It's so fun to read, especially since the show is so character driven.
However..to everyone who is throwing fits...we don't know how long she will be dead for yet...
If you want to more details on how the show is going to proceed and just a little piece of mind as well, then I agree with the person above who left spolierfix.com - it's a great place for decent spoilers.

She died
Her mother is dying as well.
This way they can talk to one another and share the thoughts they failed to share three days ago. Meredith sees her mother fading and her disappearing as well. When they are done sharing this moment Meredith will be back. Ellis will not.
As for the show, it will go on until May then return in September.
Relax and enjoy the show.

They wont kill off a main killer, she will probably be in her dead dream world for the whole next epi and come out of it at the last minute.

yes i was rather puzzled by this as well. well good ridence to bad rubish i hope the cancel the show now. more likly shell miraculasly come back to life.
