These poor things are living too...but we don't think twice about squashing them to get them out of our way. I actually do think twice about it but have to do the deed anyway because you can't let ants take over your kitchen or spiders will bite you. They are easier to put outside but sometimes this isn't possible and you're left no choice but to end their little lives. I resent being a creature murderer, don't you ? I wish it didn't have to be this way. I don't see how people murder other human beings because i feel guilty for killing ants.

All living beings hurt each other and kill each other for their existence. In Hindu religion, we talk of five sins which we commit everyday (like what you mentioned) in the act of sweeping, cleaning vessels, cutting vegetables and cooking food. We also talk of five Yagnas as penance. I am not saying the system is perfect, but some one has thought about it many thousands of years ago.

I avoid killing these insects as much as possible, but when it happens, accept it as God's will. I say a small prayer over its body and wish the soul all the best.

Nice thing you have such feelings for animals but it's preservation of the fittest, whatever makes it that way. Nature is merciless with any creature that cannot adapt to the enviroment, if it doesn't adapt will die or simply will not reproduce, anyway, their genetic strand is removed from the genetic pool of a given species. No animal would have mercy on its prey not even us given that they could depredate us, it's no their nature and part of the beauty.
Man is borned to digest plants as well as meat, most of us have done it.
Also there are two biological strategies to maintain species, quantity, such as many insects of quality as many mammals.
And look where I live scorpions sting more than 50 people every day, yes they do it on self-defence but in those cases the primal instint is "kill it before it causes any trouble". Even the fact that we sistmatically try to eliminate them, makes them stronger an that's a reason why new pesticides come into the market.

At Walmart they have little bpxes that you set around your house. These things are usually always pet and child-safe. Just make sure they say it on the package before you buy one. They have some for ants, roaches, spiders, and sometimes for all bugs. These products are usually kept in the aisles where they keep the bug spray and what not. Also, another option is to talk to the exterminators. They have some great options sometimes on how to get rid of pests WITHOUT getting your house sprayed. Ours has recommended some great options like this to us. =) Good luck!

I totally don't feel bad about killing spiders in my house. First of all, I have 3 small children. I live in the southwest, and am concerned abut venomous bites. Second of all, what about that statistic about how the average human eats about 8 spiders a year in their sleep? And lastly, spiders are just gross and creepy. I make my husband kill them.

I will kill an ant, bee, spider, fly and any other bug that comes into my house. If I merely sweep it out it will find another way in.
Not to mention its a good way to slow growing population of these organisms that are just so disgusting.

Well, look at it like this... if you suddenly became paralyzed and fell to the ground, those ants would have no problem devouring you. Most bugs are killing machines. They have to be to survive.

I try not to kill spiders, because they kill other bugs that I hate worse. But nature is brutal... that's the way it is.

I'm with you 100%. I won't kill them, but only because my wife takes great joy in killing them herself, so I don't have to. For a spider, I'd try to transfer it outside. For ants, if I lived alone I guess I'd just have to try super hard to clean up whatever they are eating and hope they'd go away.

Yes, I know how you feel. I had a fly in my window and I babied it for a while and then took it outside. I trapped a mouse and it didn't kill it and so I took it outside near the fence and it went over to my neighbors, hopefully into the weeds and not into their house. We trapped a mole in our lawn and I made my husband dispose of it as I couldn't. I don't understand how anyone can be cruel to pets, children, or others either. What are they thinking of?

of course, killing is repulsive. however, you are much more important then any other living thing, and it is sometime necessary to do whatever it takes for YOU to survive. the lower life forms can not possibly know this. so, you may have to squash a scorpion to keep it from killing you.
and yes of course, THY SHALL NOT KILL refers to other humans, however, i am most certain that GOD will forgive you if you are truely sorry for your sins, and accept JESUS CHRIST as the LORD and saviour. once more, self defense is critical your well being.

It's sad, but that's the way of life. The spider itself has to kill other organisms to survive. Death and life are intertwined.
