Most perennial plants are divided and sold mail order from very late summer and into winter. I usually plant in Autumn but spring is ok to.
Achillea's are very tough and flower for most of summer. If you give them a light prune they will repeat flower even after flowering for this period. Most people plant the yellow and white varieties, but you can get some beautiful terracotta and ruby red varieties. Just as hardy just prettier colours. Achilleas can be grown from seed but can be brought from perennial nurseries in flower or mail order.

Plant in the spring, after the frost date for your area. Plant when the soil is not wet. You can check the soil by taking a handful and squeezing it. If it stays together in a ball, it's too wet to be planting. Achillea plants can be purchased at your local garden store. I had some quite some time ago and if I remember correctly, they bloom mostly summer to fall and they like the sun. They are beautiful plants, I like the red flowers better than the yellow, but mixed together they would look stunning!

Most perennials come out at certain times of the year, I mean to buy them. Once you buy them plant them. Towards the end of the summer season you can buy them at reduced prices and still plant them. Perennials can be planted from spring until fall. Achillea blooms for most of the summer. I believe from approx June until late Aug, early Sep. They look good when planted with several colors of them all mixed together. Depending on where you live will depend on when you can buy this one, but I think it would be out late spring/early summer. Buy a few of each color and mix them together in the garden, buy them already potted. Have fun gardening!
