Sir, the BEST computer that you can buy is the one that YOU chose the parts and build it your self!
I Have been in this field over 25 years and have never seen a computer advertised with the MAX of everything! You ever heard of a so called gaming computer using SCSI drives?
SCSI drives turn at up to 15,000RPM, the fastest SATA is only 10,000RPM. That is just one example!
Copy and paste together what you think is the ideal system. Open a word document, Open a web site that you like, that sells computer parts.
Select the case that you like, copy/paste it into the word doc. Copy/paste the SPECS, price and URL of the site. Do that for every item that goes into your MAX computer! Key Board, Monitor/LCD, sound card, graphic card, all of it.
Then, later, go to a different site and do the same! That is the only way to get YOUR absolute best computer!

I realize you want a simple name for the best system, but there is no such thing. What you are looking for is a PC with the fastest CPU, 2 GB of RAM and a killer graphics card. Ignore the rest, as these are the main ingredients of a smokin gaming system.
1. CPU: Intel or AMD. Both make good chips, but Intel's new Core 2 Duo chip smokes AMD's latest chip.
2. RAM: If you ain't looking to get too technical, 2 GB of any kind of RAM will do you just fine.
3. Graphics Card: Most gamers like the GE-Force or the Radeon. Get either with a minimum of 128 MB of RAM on the card, and make sure it has a fan, cause good cards get hot.
As for wanting 1 package in 1 name, there is no such thing, but of you have a butt-load of money, you can always go with an AlienWare system. All they do is shove other company's part's into their cases though.
You best bet is calling GateWay or HP and build a system with them over the phone, but tell them you want the 3 main ingredients specified above. The best way to do this is to build it yourself piece by piece, but if you aren't comfortable with that, have a company do it.
Alternatively, check craigslist.com for a local techie in your area looking for side jobs and save some money by having him build it for you.
Good luck, frag well.

If you Love mainstream gaming (PC Format), then get either an Alienware or Dell XPS. If you want something easy to use, with great graphics and unsurpassed security, get an Apple PowerMac (the one with a PPC processor) or Mac Pro (the one on an x86 [Intel] architecture).

"Top of the line" connotes expensive and maximum specs.
Do not go for any of the branded PCs. Have one custom made for you with these specs:
If you are going with an AMD CPU:
SEMPRON 64 2800+ 333 MHZ AM2 or better
Elite NFORCE4M-A V3.0 or better (Motherboard)
1GB DDR2 PC533 (MEMORY) or higher
Seagate 80GB SATA Hard Drive or higher
INNO3D GFX6600LE PCI-Express or better (Video Card)
At least 17" LCD Monitor
PS - 500 Watts
